Tsubu-Tsubu Grains: Japanese Future Foods

Introduction of TsubuTsubu

The general term Tsubu-Tsubu actually refers to a whole range of delicious grains. In addition to the millet family, tsubu-tsubu includes: soba (buckwheat), quinoa, amaranth, barley, brown rice, adlay, and more. They are tremendously flexible, non-allergenic, hearty, and delicious. Eaten boiled, soaked, pounded, baked, or eaten raw in a variety of recipes, they taste amazing and will have you forgetting the animal products you may be used to. The wide diversity of Tsubu-tsubu grains expands our food vocabulary from the strict rice, potatoes, or white bread diet now shared by many modern people.

Tsubu-tsubu Grains Are...
1. Hardy and International. Millet plants are very strong and will grow even in cold areas or infertile soils. They are naturally resistant to pests and climactic changes, making it possible to grow and store them without chemical pesticides. Almost any open land can support millet, making it independently productive at the national, regional, and individual levels.
2. Portable and Flexible. Tsubu-tsubu are tiny time capsules of life. They can be stored for long periods in small spaces, and eaten anytime with only some water, a pan, and a fire. This makes them perfect for future-looking survivalists, urban warriors, rural families, space travelers, and people constantly on the move.
3. Highly Productive. One tsubu-tsubu grain in the earth will give birth to thousands more edible grains. A handful of grains from this year’s balcony garden or backyard farm has the potential to grow an entire harvest next year. The current world food crisis could be averted if we returned large-scale to the natural abundance of tsubu-tsubu grains.
4. Nutritionally Balanced. Tsubu-tsubu grains contain far more dietary fiber and minerals than rice or wheat. Nutritionally balanced, it is especially rich in protein, calcium, and iron. It has also been credited with aiding the autonomic nervous system, strengthening the immune system, regenerating cells, preventing anemia, and suppressing allergies. The cleansing power of tsubu-tsubu fiber can help prevent cholesterol deposits, hardening of arteries, thrombosis, and apoplexy. The amazing abilities of tsubu-tsubu grains to strengthen the mucous membranes of the digestive system, prevent constipation and protect against cancer of the large intestine have attracted the attention of medical experts and doctors worldwide.
